Kobato DVD 11: Best Kobato Outfit, Period...


Translate the name of the Bakery to romaji. It still does not sound like "Tirol".

Japanese doesn't have a "ti" sound, so foreign words spelled with Ti often wind up sounding like chi instead. As for the last syllable. the L/R confusions are well-known, and Japanese can't end syllables with consonants except for N. So most foreign words get an extra O or U sound added on. That's how you get "Tirol" from what sounds like "chiroru."

Oddly enough, TokyoPop's Chobits manga does use "Chiroru" as the name.

I thought ti was "ティ", that's what I have been thought. So it kinda confused me.
